In 1949, Balmain created its very first perfume, titled Jolie Madame. It was wildly popular among the fashion set, so much so that Pierre Balmain named his Fall 1952 collection after the scent. The presentation built upon the Maison's New French style, with the term Jolie Madame soon becoming a way of referring to the label’s quintessentially Parisian aesthetic – and now a new-season top-handle bag, too.
